Maillard tone sets the character of this pair: a soft, dusty suede shade that sits closer to vintage than to sharp, and it is the reason the shoe works with preppy tailoring, corduroy and denim without looking dressed up.
The warmth comes from a single piece of lamb's wool that runs the length of the interior as both lining and insole. Because it is one piece, there is no seam under the arch to rub and no separate sock to shift or bunch; the wool also wraps the sides of the foot rather than only the sole.
Outside, the upper is imported suede with a matte nap, and the outsole is a custom-made Italian genuine leather unit cut for a driving-shoe profile, so the sole flexes with the foot instead of fighting it. A silver double-C ornament is fixed to the vamp as the only piece of hardwear.
For autumn and winter wear we suggest taking one size up: the wool takes up volume, and the extra room keeps the instep from pressing. Sizing is 35-41, and 41 is a made-to-order build, so it cannot be returned or exchanged once produced.
Between wears, pull the wool back into shape by hand and let the pair air; the fur recovers overnight. Orders go out at one piece per colour with colours mixable, in opp bag or box, 3-10 days lead time, by express courier, sea or air, settled by PayPal, Western Union, TT or credit card.
