Kelly Muller Calfskin Low Heel Slippers Flat Sole Backless Style for Summer
A backless flat built on the Kelly Muller last, in a colourway added this season. The point of the design is that the padded collar at the top holds the foot on its own, so there is nothing across the heel to rub and nothing to break in.
The upper is Italian imported calfskin with a fine, close grain, cut high enough to cover the top of the foot. Because the collar is padded, the shoe grips at the instep; that is why it can be worn without a strap and still stay on when you walk.
Inside, the insole has been changed this year to an Italian aniline-dyed sheepskin, which is what gives the flat its soft, dry feel underfoot and keeps it from turning clammy in heat. The sole beneath is Italian Grade A imported cowhide, a flat unit intended for indoor and paved surfaces rather than rough ground.
Sizing is 35-40 with 41 available, and the last runs true to standard European sizing, so take your normal number. Summer into early autumn is the natural window; worn with linen, cropped trousers or a simple dress, the shape stays quiet enough to pass as a suit shoe.
